My biggest treasure is being a Nepali citizen. I grew up in the UnitedStates therefore, I
believe in promoting Nepal to Americans. I like going to different elementary schools and
introducing the Nepali culture to American kids. I go there wearing different Nepali ethnic
wears, dance for the teachers and students, hand out Nepali flags, and give an educational
speech about Nepal. Aside from being Miss Nepal US (A) first runner up, I was also Dallas
Everest the most talented in 2008. I am currently an ambassador of Women’s Prevention and
Protection Center (WPPC Nepal) and Nari Samrakshan Tatha Suraksha Kendra Nepal.
WPPC is an NGO that's linked with Prabashi Nepali Mitra Manch; they're dedicated to
fighting against human trafficking. Anuradha Koirala a woman ive always looked up has also
visited the WPPC Nepal foundation in Washington on January 2012. As an ambassador, I'm
raising awareness towards the cause and helping fund the safe house that's being built in
Nepal. I think its important to encourage youths to find a balance between Nepali and
American culture. Sujita Basnet and I recently registered a non-profit origination, "Just Do It
For Nepal". Our origination's main focus is to empower youth, preserve our Nepali culture,
and raise awareness towards uprising obstacles around the world. For about a month i hosted;
"Yuva Ko aawaz" or
"voices of the youth", In fun asia radio. the show's point was to promote the outlooks of
Nepali American youths. I'm also apart of club called "DAWN". Together we help the
homeless shelters in Los Angeles,
participate in Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and help different organizations. I strive to
be a good role model to my six year old brother or any kid who looks up to me. I vale my
Nepali traditions and my parents are my biggest inspiration.
Why Miss Nepal US (A)?
I wanted to meet new people and build networking. I never imagined it would be one the best
experiences of my life! I think the best part about Miss Nepal US (A) is that it pushed me to do
more for my country
and community than i ever had before. i always was involved in doing social work but his
platform allowed me to reach further! i even open my own origination. i met some of the
most amazing girls and made ever
lasting friendships. i would encourage every Nepali American girl to be apart of this once in
a life time opportunity. I believe that every woman has something uniquely beautiful to offer
the world and you
never know what you can achieve if you try.
